10 Books I Read in 2024

by | Dec 18, 2024

People are always asking me what to read. I love to share about books and reading and anything connected to that, as I believe what we read has incredible power to change us. Many of these books are not newly published, but ones I’ve recently come across that are enduring ones, recommended by others.

Here are some favorites from this year, in no particular order:

You May All Prophesy by Steve Thompson – this book has taken my prayer life, use of the gifts of the Spirit, and my ministry to a new level.

The Divinity Code to Understanding Your Dreams and Visions by Adam F. Thompson – again, a life changing book for me personally but also for use in ministry.

Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself, by Nedra Glover Tawwab – my therapist has me reading and applying this book in my life. Honestly, it’s pretty excruciating to apply but it’s necessary and so good.

Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of My Head and Into the World by Gretchen Rubin – this book is a great one to help you slow down and smell the roses. I realized a lot of what I was missing out on in life by reading this book.

Life After Power: Seven Presidents and Their Search for Purpose Beyond the White House, by Jared Cohen – this is a fascinating read about how these presidents navigating life after being the most powerful man in America. Really good leadership lessons here.

Live Slowly: A Gentle Invitation to Exhale, by Jodi Grubbs – this is a book about the power of slow living. I’m still trying to put this into practice in my life. I really, really need to exhale right now so maybe I need to pick it up for a re-read on Christmas vacation.

The Next Right Thing: A Simple, Soulful Practice for Making Life Decisions by Emily P. Freeman – If you’re feeling in limbo or unsettled with anything in your life this would be a fabulous book to read. She has so much wisdom.

If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home By Now: Why We Traded the Commuting Life for a Little House on the Prairie by Christopher Ingraham – super good memoir.

The Business of Writing: Writing Lessons from the Front, by Angela Hunt – if you’re a writer these types of books are always helpful to see where you need to hone your craft more.

What in the World? A Southern Woman’s Guide to Laughing at Life’s Unexpected Curve Balls and  Beautiful Blessings by Leanne Morgan – this book is a memoir from my favorite comedian. Leanne is hysterical and I enjoyed this behind-the-scenes view of her life.

What were some of your favorite reads this past year?
